European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas

Camping Enfola has joined the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas (CETS), promoted by the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, with the aim of:

  • improving the tourist offer and strengthening cooperation with the National Park
  • improving environmental behaviour
  • supporting local development and the conservation of heritage

We and the environment

We are located within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park and pay particular attention to the environment:

  • since 2021 we have been partners of CETS – Phase II (European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas);
  • since 2020 we have been members of Ecoalberghi Elbani “Green Hospitality”;

We have installed the following systems:

  • for the production of electricity: a 30 kW photovoltaic system that covers about 50% of our consumption; the remaining electricity demand comes only from renewable sources, as certified by the Green Energy Certificate issued by E.CO Energia Corrente;
  • for water heating: a solar thermal system;

Technologies we have adopted

  • for water saving: dual-flush toilet cisterns and flow restrictors on taps and showers;
  • for sustainable mobility: electric bicycles for guests’ short trips;
  • for separate waste collection: we provide guests with a set of reusable bags for waste separation.
We ask for your cooperation in helping us achieve our environmental policy goals, in particular for: Waste separation:
  • dispose of glass, plastic, cans, paper and organic waste in the appropriate containers inside the Camping;
  • dispose of used batteries in the container at the Reception;
  • dispose of used cooking oil in the dedicated blue container (ask at Reception).
Water consumption:
  • limit water consumption during showers;
  • do not leave showers and taps unnecessarily open while washing dishes, clothes or during personal hygiene;
  • do not rinse inflatable boats, canoes, air mattresses or beach inflatables;
  • do not wash cars.
Electricity consumption:
  • switch off the air conditioning when you are not in the bungalow or camper/caravan;
  • keep doors and windows closed when the air conditioning is on;
  • unplug devices (mobile phones, power banks, cameras, etc.) once charging is completed.
Camping Enfola and the environment THANK YOU!

Take me away, don’t take me away

The Camping Enfola participates in the project “Take me away, don’t take me away”, promoted by the Tuscan Archipelago National Park within the UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve “Tuscan Islands”, with the support of ESA S.p.A..

We take care of beaches and trails with a simple gesture: take away small waste, especially cigarette butts and plastic fragments, and leave sand, stones and shells in their natural environment.

Local development and heritage conservation

We take part in the “GIARDINO DIFFUSO” project together with the Ecoalberghi Elbani – Elba Green Hospitality, with two native plants from the Island of Elba: the San Giovannino Rossa plum tree and the Marisa Scoglio Bianco plum tree.
